Comments: I am hoping to make contact with anyone of the surname GERAL. My father - Daniel Fernades Geral, one of seven children, my grandfather - João Fernandes Geral, my great grandfather - José Fernandes Geral were all born in Achadas da Cruz. I have just recently found that there could also be related family members that lived in Calheta, Madeira. My father and mother Maria Ferreira da Silva emmigrated to South Africa in the late 1940's.

Comments: My paternal great grandmother's name was Maria Ferreira de Jesus. She was a single woman and had my grandfather, Feliciano de Lima Ferreira. His father was not listed on the birth certificate therefore he is unknown. Feliciano was born on 15 May 1889 in Porto Moniz. My maternal great-great grandfather's name was Francisco de Lima Lucas who was married to Maria Perpétua do Nascimento who had my great grandfather Victorino de Lima Lucas. Victorino was married to my great grandmother, Felecia Correia de Lima on 13 September 1880. Felecia parents (my great great grandparents) names where Jorge Pereira and Rosa Correia. Victorino and Felecia had my grandmother Fé de Lima Lucas on 3 December 1894. Her name given at baptism was Fé Rosa Correia. Fé and Feliciano were married on 26 February 1906. Fé was 16 and Feliciano was 21 years of age. They had many children (15), my mother being one of them. Fé died of pneumonia on 6 July 1937. My mother was five years old. She also had a younger brother and sister. Feliciano died of old age on 11 September 1967. He was 83 years old. He never remarried after my grandmother's death. My mother, Ilda Pulqueira de Lima met and married my father David Jesus Ferreira. My father was born in Lowell, Mass. on 1 January 1926. His father was native to Madeira and moved his family back to the Island in 1934 because of the great depression. After marrying my mother they had four children and settled in Lombo das Laranjeiras. Upon hearing of special circumstances allowing those who were born in America to return, my mother borrowed money for my father's passage back to the U.S. He returned in 1960 and left my mother and four young children on Madeira. He settled in Oakland, California. In 1962 my mother, three sisters and one brother made the trip from Madeira to California. She did not read or write and it was a difficult journey for them. I was the first of my siblings to be born here in California, my sister Lisa followed 2 years later. I have been to Madeira many times and just now have begun my research on my family. June 1998.

Comments: I am looking for info on my father family, his name was Franciso Daluz he was born in Brazil in the 1919. His family moved back to Madeira when he was infant. All I know is that my grandmother died young and my grandfather commited suicide. He had 8 or more brother and sisters. He was the last child born to the family. If there is any info please email me. Comments: I live in London but my family is from Brazil. My great-grandfather came to Brazil at 5 months old in 1886 with his parents. His name was Manoel Telles Junior (1886-1947) and his sister Maria Telles (1884-???). His parents were Manoel Telles de Castro (1856-???) and Maria Silvestre da Conceição (1860-???). Manoel Telles de Castro parents were: Manoel Telles and Francisca Perpétua de Gouveia. Maria Silvestre da Conceição parents were: Antonio Placido Pereira and Maria Julia Conceição. If you have any information that could relate with my family contact me. I will be visiting Madeira in the begining of 2006 to try to find out if there is any relative over there.
