Island January 20, 1967. Her mother: Joaninya Deyha Rosa Dominga was from
Sao Nicolau - she had approx. 8 daughters. I am searching for my family.
Joanna Britto gave birth to her first son in CV - John Fontino. I appreciate

Surname: Delgado
Comments: My family is in a state of emergency! Our Cape Verdean culture
is on the verge of extinction due to ingorance and indifference. I would
like to gain knowledge about my family and Cabo Verde as whole so future
generations won't be denied our rich culture. Unfortunately, I don't have
much to work with. My grandparents Joao de Deus Delgado and Joanna Almeida
were born in Sao Nicolau. My grandfather was born on March 9, 189?. He died
in 1979/80 in his early 90s. My grandmother died of tuberculosis when my
mother (who is now 73, d.o.b. 9/8/25 in Fall River) was five. I believe
the couple was married in the United States. All of their ten children
were born in Fall River. I don't have all of the names, many are deceased.
Some died as children. The list includes/ed Antonio Delgado, Joseph Delgado,
Manual Delgado, Julia Delgado, Mary Rose (Maria Rosa) Delgado (Richardson),
Mary Lou (Maria de Luz) Delgado (Green), Angelina (Angelina Joanna)Delgado
(Riley), Olivia (Olivia Joanna)Delgado (Silva). Only Antonio and Mary were
taught Creole.
(Note: my grandfather somehow managed to raise all ten on his own). In the
late sixties my grandfather returned to his homeland and remarried. He also
had another daughter who I would like to track down. Any information would
be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Surname: Soares
Comments: I am looking for any information on Emanuel Ignatius Soares, born
on Sao Niclau about 1831 or 1832. He would have lived on Sao Niclau until
about 1865, when he immigrated to New Zealand. He was a mariner. Any help
would be GREATLY appreciated!

Surnames: Costa,( Brava), Silva
Comments: I am trying to help my daughter with a school project. I know that
my grandmother came from the isle of Brava and I believe her family settled
in Sacramento California, my grandparents ended up in New Bedford, MA.. My
grandmothers' name was Rosa Costa Silva, with Silva being her marriage name.
My grandfather was Francisco DaCruz Silva from Sao Nicolau. Any information
anyone may have on our family history would be greatly appreciated.
