Comments: I search all families in Sergipe that descended from sugar
millowners (engenhos de cana de açucar). Those families include
practically all important and traditional families in Sergipe, the smallest
state of Brasil. The families below are only a sample of families searched:
a)Martins Fontes - from the cities of Riachão and Lagarto.The ancient
known member was the capitão-mor António Martins Fontes, b.ca.1700;
b) Rollemberg - spread throughout the whole of Sergipe.
Descend from the Portuguese Emanuel Rollemberg, born ca. 1670. His father
was from Germany (Alta Alemanha), maybe Bayern;
c)Oliveira Ribeiro - from Laranjeiras. Descend from captain José
António de Oliveira, who was born in 1789;
d) Andrade Pacheco and Cabral- from Capela, descends
from the founder of Capela, Luis de Andrade Pacheco, who was born ca.1700;
e) Souza Telles - from Capela. Descend from José de Souza
Telles, who was born in 1797;
f) Faro Leitão - very ancient family.The most ancient name
found was João de Faro Leitão, capitão-mor of Lagarto;
g) Curvelo de Mendonça - very ancient family. The most
ancient in Sergipe with its surname was born in Azores in 1597.
Update: The LDS following my requirement sent a copy of 52 microfilms to the
Sergipe Justice Tribunal. Now I am trying to find a company that can
afford with R$ 12.000,00 (about US$ 6.500,00) to digitalize all registers
in CD. If I succeed we will be able to have all Sergipe registers in only
10 CDs. Best regards, Teles
