Comments: Jose Batista (born 1895). In 1925 Jose, his wife Alzira (Simoes Ferreira), daughters Mary (my mom), Helen and Louise came into the port of Providence, RI. They went back to Portugal and then all returned in 1929 into the port of NYC. They settled first in Perth Amboy, NJ and then finally in New Rochelle, New York. I'm travelling to Portugal in the year 2000 and I'm very curious about my Portuguese family roots.

Comments : meu avô, Viriato Telles Novo, juntamente com seu irmão José Simões Telles, viajaram para o Brasil no final do séc. XIX. Posteriormente, meu avô voltou a Portugal, de onde voltou casado com minha avó, D. Deolinda dos Reis Teles. Estabeleceu-se na cidade de Santos, em São Paulo, onde viveu até o seu falecimento. Seu irmão, José, mudou-se para o Estado do Rio de Janeiro, e foi residir na cidade de Niterói. Outros irmãos de meu avô, viajaram para os Estados Unidos, onde viviam inicialmente em São Francisco, mas não temos notícias dos mesmos. Apenas ouvimos falar nos "Cross" e nos "Semioas", mas não conheço as ligações desses nomes com a família Teles. Gostaria de obter dados de nossa origem em Portugal e também de nossas famílias nos Estados Unidos.

Comments: I have tried everything and I can't find my grandfather's name. Well he was born in Murtosa, Portugal, concelho of Aveiro, district of Porto. Date of birth 9/17/1894 and died in 11/24/1943 in Meniola or Jamaica, Connecticut. The problem is, I believe, because of his name. His name was Domingos Jose Vaz Carramona or Bunheirao. I don't know whish name he used. I tried all different names and can't find anything. Please help. Thank you

Comments: I am also looking for descendents of Domingos Antonio Vaz da Silva. He was originally from Murtosa, Aveiro and left for São Tomé, São Tomé & Principe. Domingos was my great grandfather and apparently started a whole new family in São Tomé. We know he had a daughter in São Tomé who he named Esmeria (after one of the other daughters he left in mainland Portugal). If alive, Esmeria would be in her seventies. Comments: Looking for information on ggrandparents and gggrandparents. Domingos Nunes, born April 21, 1883 in Nogueira do Cravo. His Father's name was Joaquim Nunes and his mother's name Joana da Silva de Jesus. Domingos Nunes was also married to a Teresa Forte, born May 25, 1884 in Portugal (I have no marriage date). When they left Portugal they had one son Louie Silva Nunes born March 15, 1910 in Portugal. They came to Providence, RI USA on a ship name Germanina in 1912.

Comments: Os "meus" Azevedos vêem do Norte de Portugal, sendo o mais antigo, que sei, Jerónimo que nasceu cerca de 1630 em Bairros, Paço de Sousa, Ermegilde, Distrito do Porto. Casou com Maria de Adrião Miguel. Seu neto Manuel, casou com Maria Moreira em 1703. Os Moreiras eram da mesma terra desde pelo menos desde 1650. Esse ramo da família passou a chamar-se Moreira de Azevedo. Houve união com a família Ferreira da mesma terra de cerca de 1630. Outros ramos interessantes são os Rodrigues Lopo e os Fernandes ambos de Grijó, Distrito do Porto, que também aparecem na mesma era. Por outro lado encontrei os Casais de Moncorvo, Distrito do Porto e os Fonsecas de Oliveira de Azemeis, Aveiro, os Lourenços de Mertola, Beja, Alentejo, e muitos outros. Há ainda a possibilidade, em estudo, de ligar uma dessas famílias aos fundadores do mosteiro de Grijó, o que por ser bem documentado no "Livro das Campainhas" poderia levar essa porção da minha árvore até ao ano 912! Presentemente resido em Ontario, Canada. Uma minha página no web foi escrita para explicar Portugal aos meus quatro netos Canadianos.

Comments: Researching family of JOAO SIMOES LOUREIRO, b. November 10, 1901 to MANUEL LOUREIRO and ROSE OLIVEIRA? in Bustos Azurveira. Joao's siblings included JOSEPH and ANTONIO, possibly a sister or brother, as well. Joao emigrated to the US around 1918, his brothers followed at a later date, but Joseph was eventually deported back to Portugal; he returned to the family farm, married a woman named ODETTE and had several children. I beleive two of the children's names were Antonio and Lucinda. Joe Loureiro was lame and walked with a crutch; his wife, Odette was much younger than he.Antonio settled in Scranton, PA, married Mary and had children Eugene, Tony, Jack and Barbara. Joao married Catherine Graboski around 1931; they lived in Scranton before moving to Newark, NJ in the 1940s. Their children were Adeline, Rosemarie, Elaine and John. I would appreciate anyone who can help me get in touch with the family in Portugal. We are planning to travel there later this year and would like to contact them.

Comments: the only thing I know is that my grandfather's grandfather (whose surname was Lima) came from the north of Portugal to Lourosa (which is one of the villages of Santa Maria da Feira, in the Aveiro district) by the end of the XIXth century.

Comments: O meu avo, Manoel Dias Garcia, nasceu em Sao Joao da Madeira, em 15 de Maio de 1879. Ele se mudou para o Brasil nao sei quando. Ele se casou com Maria Luiza Correa, nascida em Curitiba, no Estado de Parana, Brasil. Eu escutei que a familia do meu avo tambem morou em Viseu e em Porto. Tambem escutei que tenho parentes na Ilha de Terceira, nos Acores. Qualquer informacao me ajudara muito. Meu pai me disse que a familia veio de Salamanca, Espanha, e que tinha um Dom Sancho Garcia aos ano 1400, mas nao tenho confirmado nada ainda.
