Catalog of Hungarian Books & Maps
REFERENCE
(atlases, maps, history, dictionaries, etc)
The following is a select collection of modern books and maps available in Hungary in the Hungarian language and some in the English language. This "catalog" was created because some people don't have any access to books in the Hungarian language, but still want to buy a present for their relatives, or for their own genealogical interests.

To pay by charge card, please send email to and
include your card number, expiration date and name on your card (I am sorry, but I don't
have a more "secure" method for this type of payment, unless you want to call me
at: 1(623)398-0452..
Note: If you pay by charge card, the next statement you
receive will include a charge from "Dougs Mugs of Sacramento" so don't be
surprised by this mysterious charge. It is the name of my former business.

Important Note:
International bank checks must have U.S. bank routing
numbers on them or they are not accepted. For instance, these numbers look like
"29-7003/2213" (this is the bank number for Charter One Bank) or
"11-35/1210" (this one is for Bank of America), etc. Even banks like Chase
Manhatten in New York don't always have these bank routing numbers, when associated with
foreign banks. The costs to collect funds from such international checks is no less than
$25 and takes at least 3 months. For this reason they are not accepted. Your best option
would be to pay by charge card.
REFERENCE SECTION
This out of print series of Hungarian county maps by Cartographia is at a scale of 1:150,000. They are the most detailed maps available for counties of Hungary, showing even the tiniest of places. (Price includes shipping) (also see the newer county map series listed below)

Hungarian County Maps
This series of Hungarian county maps is at a scale of 1:200,000. Not as detailed as the maps above, but they are still supurb references and, of course, they show every village. In several ways, they are far better than the old Cartographia maps above because they have many of the village coats-of-arms in beautiful color, they contain a short county history in several languages (including English), and they even give population totals of every village and city within the county. If you already have one of the county maps like the above from Cartographia, you won't be disappointed in adding one of this new series to your collection. If I don't have the map in stock it will be sent to you directly from Hungary. All county maps cost $20, unless otherwise indicated. If not in stock here in California, please add shipping.

Hungarian City & Village Maps ($10.00 to $20.00 each)
These maps are too numerous to list, so if you want a map just tell me which one and I will see if it is available and quote you a price. (plus shipping)
Hardbound autoatlas by Cartographia. For a tourist, there is no better map of Hungary. This book which shows every village no matter how small, is fully indexed and is small enough to carry on vacation. In addition, all but the smallest villages have miniature maps of them which list many of the landmarks including churches and museums (though in Hungarian). Size is 6" x 10.5" This map book will be sent directly from Hungary. (plus shipping)
Phone books of Hungary
The following phone books are available for purchase and will be shipped directly from Hungary. They are arranged by county, with the exception of Budapest. All county phone books cost $25, unless otherwise marked. (plus shipping)
