"Portuguese Ancestry" is a genealogy group devoted to Portuguese genealogy, history, and related subjects of interest to people of Portuguese descent. Since 1991, Rosemarie Capodocci, of Seaside, California, and her friends in the Portuguese community in the Monterey, CA area have produced a newsletter called "Portuguese Ancestry."

Membership is $10 per year, published in the English language. The quarterly 10-page newsletter always has items of interest for genealogists and is well-worth the price.

Also popular is the January issue (one of the four yearly issues) which is the surname listing of members. It tells where the ancestors of the new members are from and you can often find common ancestors in this way.

Current membership is at about 240 active people and there are over 40 new members for 1997, as of October 5th (the creation date of this page).

As of Jan. 2005 the newsletter, Portuguese Ancestry is no longer being published. I still have back issues if anyone is interested (since Apr. 1991!) but no new issues.
Coming soon will be a listing of the back-issues available for $1.50 each.
